Five Spices is a young Dutch design office that works on the cutting edge of multiple disciplines. Versatility is the specialism. A great diversity of assignments has been realised, applying several disciplines like conceptualization, 3D design, graphic design, interaction design and motion design. Exhibitions, corporate identities, trade fair presentations, events, brochures, websites, interactive installations and interiors are examples of realised projects. The Holland Pavilion was designed to present 30 Dutch companies during the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi. Five Spices developed the total concept and was responsible for project management. A tree was chosen to symbolise sustainable development and thus the "Dutch Energy Forest" came into being. Sustainable materials such as recycled cardboard, PVC fabrics and energy-saving LED lighting were used. In order to minimise the burden on the environment, Five Spices tried to reduce transport weight and volume. First, research was done on available materials on-site. Secondly, light and compact materials such as aluminium and sandwich board were used.
