Henk Hofstra is one of the most innovative and interesting Dutch artists of the new generation. Only 17 years old, he left home and went to the Art Academy Artibus in Utrecht. Most of his art, usually environmental art and paintings, is figurative: food, cows, landscapes, flowers and portraits. Hofstra has recently designed a new environmental art project called Art Eggcident in Leeuwarden, a city in the north of the Netherlands. Several large eggs, each of them 100 feet wide andmanufactured with shining PVC, were spread on the Zaailand, one of the largest city squares in the Netherlands. The largest eggs were totally flat, but the smaller ones had a three-dimensional "yolk" perfect for climbing on and taking pictures.
